The interior design of the Hotel Japonès Puigpinós uses wood, a very important material in Japan, since 70% of its area is forest. And it is combined with stone and a whole set of restored materials that were part of the old farmhouse. The essence is not lost, we recover its value.
TATAMI AND FUTON
Some of the hotel rooms have tatami, a very characteristic element of Japanese houses, used in the past to cover the entire floor of the most important rooms. It is a floor made of rice straw. These rooms also have a futon, a traditional Japanese bed consisting of a mattress and mattress cover joined together and flexible enough to be stored away during the day to allow for other uses in the room.
WASHLET
All hotel rooms are equipped with a washlet, an electronic bidet widely used in Japanese washrooms, with the function of a water-spray toilet for cleaning the private parts of the body.
YUKATA, CUSHIONS AND NOREN
The yukata is a traditional Japanese garment made of cotton with personalised hotel details that we make available to guests. The yukata are made with 100% cotton Japanese fabric and of good quality by Noriko, a Japanese dressmaker who lives in Barcelona. The colours used are blue and red, for men and women, respectively, as they are the symbolic colours of Japan. Noriko also makes the pillowcases and noren of the hotel with Japanese fabric.
ZORI
We have zori, Japanese flat sandals with straps made of rice straw for in-room wear. In Japan, it is typical not to wear shoes indoors because they are clean spaces.
NATURE, COLOURS AND SEASONS
We place a lot of importance on nature, colours and seasons in the same way as in Japan. Each room is named after natural elements in Japanese: water (mizu), stone (ishi), wind (kaze)and seasons (haru, natsu, aki, fuyu). We tried to find those elements in common between Catalan and Japanese culture in the rural and natural environment.
MASSAGES
We offer a variety of relaxing and therapeutic massages inspired by Japanese culture, carried out in our massage room. Advance booking and confirmation from the hotel are required.
SWIMMING POOL
Traditional in character, ideal for cooling off on hot summer days. Surrounded by a beautiful and idyllic landscape.
HONEST BAR
Self-service bar, open all day for hotel guests. A place of trust very common in Japan that reflects the character of Japanese culture.
RESTAURANT
A place to enjoy traditional Japanese cuisine, intermingled with local products. A fusion that represents an experience for the senses.
SELF-GUIDED TOUR
A short tour of the different areas of the hotel that highlights the attractions of the old farmhouse and details of Japanese culture that can be found in each of the hotel’s rooms. A real game of discovery.

Have a moment of tranquillity and disconnection while having a snack or relaxing on the hotel’s outdoor terrace. During summer evenings, you can also enjoy outdoor dining.

Our aim is to care for the environment and to manage our resources responsibly. Therefore, we have implemented several initiatives to improve our efficiency and reduce our ecological footprint.
Sustainability at the Hotel Japonès Puigpinós
At Hotel Japonès Puigpinós we are committed to sustainability. Our aim is to care for the environment and to manage our resources responsibly. Therefore, we have implemented several initiatives to improve our efficiency and reduce our ecological footprint.
We use a biomass boiler to heat our domestic water and power our heating system. The biomass is produced from pruning waste from our extensive wooded area, which ensures a short fuel cycle and a significant reduction in carbon emissions.
We have recently installed photovoltaic panels on the barn roof, which contributes to our transition to cleaner and more sustainable electricity consumption.
In addition, to encourage the use of sustainable transport, we have installed a charging station for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, available to our customers.
In terms of water management, we recover rainwater to irrigate our gardens. This water is stored in an existing pond, which has been rehabilitated not only for this purpose, but also to allow for native aquatic life. In addition, we have rehabilitated an old well to channel and use the rainwater collected on the roof of the barn.
With these and other measures, at Hotel Japonès Puigpinós we continue to strengthen our commitment to sustainability, seeking not only to reduce our environmental impact but also to enrich our surroundings.
